The Caker
I’m Jordan and I’m all about changing the way we cake
How would you like to cake today?
What makes my cakes different?
My ethos is informed by my love of home baking and something my grandparents told me when I started: your cakes should taste EVEN better than they look, and that is what I’ve become known for.
All of my recipes contain ground almonds to replace some or all of the flour, lending a moreish texture and creating a more wholesome, moist, and sumptuous cake. Some people call my cakes dense; I think that's a compliment.
I pack my cakes full of ingredients like Belgian couverture chocolate and fresh fruit, so every bite is as heavenly as the one before. The quality of the ingredients I use is one thing I will never, ever compromise on.
There is no food coloring or fondant around here, sorry :)
Shop Cake Kits
I chose some of my favourite recipes to turn into cake mixes (I like to call them ‘cake 'kits’ because they come complete with decorations and a non-stick baking pan liner), and I put all the same quality ingredients I use on a daily basis inside of them so you end up having baked a true Caker cake.

Writing recipes is one of the best parts of my job. I wrote my first recipe book in 2013, and now have four in my repetoire. Because I'm a completely self-taught baker, my books are suitable for home bakers and while each of them have their own theme, they all focus on alternative ingredients and contain a lot of gluten free, refined sugar free and vegan recipes.

My Los Angeles bakery is strictly Fridays and Saturdays only and I make very limited numbers of cakes each week.

My Story
I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand but got my love for food and baking from spending my holidays in Paris with my grandparents.
In 2010 when I was 21 I made a life-changing decision - I turned my passion into a career and officially became The Caker. It all started with a bakery making custom cakes and started turning heads. Soon after I got my first recipe book deal, but it was only when I realized that I wanted people outside of my city to try Caker cakes that I turned some of my favorite cakes from the bakery into DIY baking kits.
In 2019 I moved to Los Angeles to expand The Caker and now I'm riding the crazy wave that is starting and growing a business in a whole new country. I'm also the judge on the soon-to-air fourth season of "The Great Kiwi Bake Off" and spend a lot of my time on cake related collaborations with other brands.
I run The Caker with my partner in crime, my sister, Anouk. She joined me after learning a career in law wasn’t quite for her, and we’ve never looked back. Sisters rule.
