I clearly remember the first time I made a cake using my new, glossy, white Kenwood kMix stand mixer – it was a caramelised upside down banana cake. For the first time my butter and sugar were so well creamed it looked like a cloud had settled in my bowl, and the first time my flour didn’t half end up on the bench when added. From that moment on I knew I’d be quite satisfied to never use another brand of stand mixer again.

As The Caker grew, my kitchen acquired more and more Kenwood mixers. I refrained from switching to a huge floor mixer that could make dozens of batters at a time, choosing instead to stick to the small batch method so our cakes always taste homemade.

Today I am a proud Kenwood brand ambassador. We have collaborated with Kenwood on this Cake Kit as an ode to that first cake I ever made with my kMix, and in celebration of their 70th anniversary as elite kitchen appliance purveyors.

This new kit is an ode to that (a big moment for me) and also to Kenwood who are celebrating 70 years of being the bossest kitchen machine purveyors out there. All you need to is our own bananas and some melted butter for the easiest and most heavenly Banana cake you'll ever eat - it might even rival your mums'.
